What counts as a login, and how billing works

A login is a user who has signed in at least once. Created users who never sign in are free; deactivated users stop being billed from the next month.

Targets bills per login, so the definition matters. A login is a user who has verified their account and signed in to the portal or the app at least once. Until that first sign-in, a user you have created costs nothing.

Once signed in

A login is billable whether or not the person uses it every day. A rep who signs in once a month is a login. This keeps billing simple and predictable, and it means you can create users ahead of a rollout without paying until they start.

Who counts

  • Field reps, delivery staff, managers and head-office users.
  • Distributor users who sign in to manage their side.
  • Employees who sign in for HR self-service, unless they are on the $2 self-service login, which is billed at that rate instead.

Leavers

Deactivate the user. They stop being charged from the next billing month, and their history stays on record. Records in Targets are deactivated, never deleted.

Bundles

Growth and Scale count signed-in logins, not created users. A Growth customer can create 70 users and pay for the 50 who have signed in. When the count passes the bundle, extra logins are billed at the plan's extra-login rate.

Groups of companies

Each company has its own Targets account, its own database and its own plan. A group with three operating companies opens three accounts.
