Onboarding a distributor
Create the distributor, set opening stock, add their users and decide what they can see. Most distributors are live within a week of the company being set up.
A distributor in Targets is a party with its own warehouse, its own users and its own books. The company sets everything up and decides what the distributor can open.
Steps
- Create the distributor in the geography and link it to its price list and discount group.
- Enter opening stock, in cartons and pieces, by warehouse.
- Create the distributor's users and set their access: purchases, stock, deliveries, invoices, payments, or a subset.
- Assign the reps and sectors that book against this distributor.
- Receive the first primary order so stock and balance start from a real transaction.
What the distributor then does
Receives stock against primary invoices, loads vans, delivers, decides which orders go on cash or credit, records payments and cheques, confirms returns booked by reps, and closes the day in the daily sales report.
Sole and sub-distributors
A sole distributor can invoice a sub-distributor, who receives the stock into their own account. Both keep their own books.

Setting up geography and hierarchy
Regions, areas, territories and towns, and the managers and reps who own them. Access and reporting both follow this structure.
Adding products, price lists and discount levels
Products carry category, brand and pack size. Prices live in lists per company, distributor and group. Four discount levels apply automatically, then a manual discount on top.
Building a journey plan and approving changes
Permanent journey plans define each rep's route by day. Reps request changes; managers approve them. The plan feeds visits, coverage reports and the rep's daily map.
